Bill May Allow Concealed Gun in Bars

by Administrator 29. June 2009 04:37

A current bill is going through the Arizona legislator that would allow individuals to carry concealed weapons into bars.  The bill would not allow the individuals to drink while in the bar with a weapon, and gives bar owners rights to turn away individuals.

Many bar owners have expressed outrage at this bill.  They state that it is simply a horrible idea to combine alcohol use and guns.  Many bar owners have already stated that they would never allow a concealed weapon in their business.

State Ban on Cell Phone Use While Driving Defeated

by Administrator 24. June 2009 03:52

Senate Bill 1433 has recently failed 15-to-14 during a vote.  The bill was a recent piece of legislation that would have made cell phone use illegal while driving.  A driver would have been able to make emergency calls, or use the phone if it had a hands free device attached to it.

The defeat of this bill has sent mix reaction across Arizona.  Some feel that the bill would have been difficult and questionable to enforce, while others believe that the bills defeat will result in accidents and deaths across the state from distracted drivers using their cell phones.

No one can deny that using a cell phone while driving does increase the likelihood of accidents.

Bill to Ban Cell Phone Use While Driving

by Administrator 19. June 2009 03:17

Legislation recently approved by a Senate panel would make it illegal to use a cell phone while operating a vehicle.  The bill will allow uses of hands-free devices such as Bluetooth headsets.

The bill is expected to undergo some modifications whenever it goes in front of a full Senate.

Many worry about the enforcement of the bill.  Some state that they would have to press a few buttons in order to active a hands-free technology of the phone.  Would dialing a number before talking hands-free be considered illegal and punishable by a fine?  Questions like this are expected to be addressed whenever the legislator gets to debate this bill.
